Georgetown in 2010 -
Peace and Tranquility
Georgetown (Ontario,
Canada that is) has so much going. It is located about 12km north of the
401 and it is the start of the GO line. In short it is very close to the
Greater Toronto Area and its people enjoy all the benefits of a big city
without being one. They definitely enjoy living in a small town.
Georgetown is a closely
knit community where you can get everywhere in 5 minutes or so. This
makes for very convenient shopping and errands or driving kids to
hockey, soccer and so on.
We have lived and worked in
Georgetown for almost 20 years and recently moved to an executive
townhouse just around the corner from Main Street which is about 3
blocks long. It packs in 3 banks, 2 accounting firms, 4 law firms,
investment counseling, clothing, butcher shop, bakery, drug store, post
office, antiques, 5 restaurants including Thai and best of all an Irish
pub with live music.
In Spring, Summer and
Autumn there is a farmer’s market on Main Street in Georgetown which is
closed off on Saturdays. This is a major social event when locals and
tourists and dogs gather to enjoy chat and coffee, ice cream, bacon
sandwiches and all the fresh fruit and vegetables. Musicians perform and
the mix is heady. There is even a portable rock wall.
We have listed or sold over
500 homes in Georgetown. Is it any wonder that we totally enjoy selling
real estate here? We have brought many families from the GTA to
Georgetown which is very peaceful and the schools do not require police.
There is transportation for
seniors, school kids and handicapped people. Some people walk everywhere
in town.
Other events include the
weekly car show, the Father’s Day Classic Cars and recently the “Torch”
passed through Georgetown.
Georgetown is a wonderful
place for families to stay for a long time. People usually only leave
Georgetown to follow a job or family.
Lynn and John Drewry love
helping people find their dream homes in Georgetown and the surrounding
countryside and other small towns such as Acton, Rockwood and Erin.
